Facial Balance and Harmony

The reason you may think your nose is too big is also to with the size of your other features. If you have a small chin and lips your nose will naturally appear out of proportion even if it’s a normal size. So you don’t have to reduce the size of your nose necessarily but balance out other features.

This is why the non-surgical rhinoplasty works so well with other treatments as it gives the opportunity to introduce facial balance and harmony. I prefer the terms “balance” and “harmony” because lots of face shapes are attractive and there’s no blueprint. If you use the word symmetry you also run into the major problem of realising that nobody has a symmetrical face! And when you do see a perfectly symmetrical face simulated (using photo editing software) it actually looks a bit weird. So harmony and balance describe the desired outcome more accurately.

Back in the 1950s an orthodontist named Ricketts suggested that there was an ideal facial shape and decribed them using some lines overlaid ona side profile of a face. If you'd like to hear more about that and see some dramatic results using these lines as a guide have a look at this TikTok below.
